Rolex’s are ugly. I appreciate them for their history and craft but the design and the countless iterations of the same watch in different color ways are boring and ugly. The k+ price tag can get something much more appealing steeped in just as much history and craftsmanship.Rolex do great sports watches. If I wanted a dress watch I’d look to JLC, Universal Geneve, VC, Patek etc. The Cellini & 1908 lack any real charm in my eyes.
In total I have owned 12 Rolex watches – all purchased at official Rolex ADs – and more than half of them have or have had issues with poor quality control (e.g. scratched hands, sloppy and bad text printing, dust on dials, lume and crystals, etc.). I can certainly attest to the almost bomb-proof reliability of Rolex watches having used them extensively in marine research, forestry, farming, motorcycling and mountaineering. however, of my 15 diver’s watches (is that a problem?
