It wears pretty nicely, similar to a Sub but a bit higher on the wrist due to the case back. If a SD43 fit you, the SD4K should fit like a dream. Personally it is my favorite modern Rolex diver as it has that amazing dial, slim lugs, and slimmer bracelet than the new 41mm subs. I think that the 116600 has a lot going for it to be considered the "best modern Rolex dive watch". However, I personally think that it's been surpassed by the 41mm Sub now that Rolex has toned down those square super case lugs. The new Sub has a leg up on the 116600 in some ways: improved lume, updated movement, and thinner case. IMHO, the SD43 is the best diver Rolex currently makes. The only way I would advise against it is if you have a wrist that is smaller than 7”. I think the subs are great. The SD43 takes everything that is awesome about the sub and just amplifies it. The original model never had the cyclops, and neither did the Sea-Dweller 116600 “SD4K” which enjoyed a limited run for three years leading up to the 2017 release of the SD43, now coveted by collectors worldwide.
Who would have thought that just a few years later, Rolex would replace the SD4K. ! Well, it happened, at Baselworld 2017, the 116600 was out and the 126600, aka SD43 or SD50 was in! The timing is significant in that the first SDs were released in 1967 (for professional use only), making 2017 the 50th anniversary of the Sea Dweller. If the choice were a Submariner or an SD4K, it’d be the SD in a heartbeat. My wish list - Rolex Sea-Dweller 116600, Omega Seamaster Professional Chronograph 2594.52.00 , Tudor Pelagos (when they take the words ‘rotor self winding’ off the dial!!), Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 1st gen 2900.50.91, Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 2nd gen 232.30 .Rolex Sea Dweller 4000: Reference 116600 Review. In 2008, Rolex shelved the Sea-Dweller model in favor of a new and much larger Deepsea Sea-Dweller (DSSD) watch. Nevertheless, after six years, the Swiss watchmaking giant decided to bring it back, and at Baselworld 2014 – much to the delight of Rolex fans everywhere – the Sea-Dweller 4000 .I find the look of the SD4K to be at par if not superior to the Sub. Adds a little more to the classic utilitarian appeal. I'll be on the look out for your post come Christmas!
